BRANSON, MO - Seven White River Valley Electric Cooperative linemen are recognized during a special ceremony this (Friday) morning for their work in Haiti.

For the last several months linemen Cory Sanders, Ray Roy, Bill Gyger, Bill Marr, Mark Visnosky, Jacob Kennedy and Matt Maggard have all been taking turns traveling overseas to assist in the establishment of the first electric cooperative in Haiti.  To honor these men for their hard work and dedication, 7th District Congressman Billy Long presented each of them with an award.

Long says it's a point of pride for him to return to Washington and share the work that is being done in the 7th District.  Each lineman also received a copy of the Congressional Record, which is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress, in which they are named.

The Haiti trips were possible due to a partnership with NRECA International, an organization dedicated to bringing safe, affordable and reliable electricity to families in developing countries.
