JOPLIN, MO---Representative Long says he worries after speaking with the Chair of the House Republican Conference, that President Obama won't work with the Republicans as a team. However, Long says Obama's attitude seems as though he will work with the Republicans as long as they do what he wants. He doesn't feel confident that will get things done. Long says, "So I'm hoping the president will come around and decide, hey we really need to work together. That's the vote was about the other day. People were tired of the gridlock, not seeing anything done in Washington so hopefully the president will work with us to help us get some things passed." Republicans are currently trying to respond to President Obama's expected moves to overhaul the nation's immigration system, which will likely protect millions from being deported. The president's response to current immigration laws could come as early as next week.
