Fairfax, Va.— On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Billy Long in the August 2, 2016, Republican primary for the 7th Congressional District of Missouri.

Based on his leadership on Second Amendment issues, Billy Long has earned an “A” rating from the NRA-PVF in the 2016 election. An “A” is reserved for solidly pro-gun candidates who have supported NRA positions on key votes and demonstrate a true support of Second Amendment issues.

“The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Billy Long. His consistent opposition to attempts to ban lawfully-owned firearms, magazines, and ammunition has earned Congressman Long an “A” rating from the NRA,” said Chris Cox, executive director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “Time and again Congressman Long has stood strong against President Obama’s, Hillary Clinton’s, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control agenda. I urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Missouri to vote Billy Long for Missouri’s 7th Congressional District in the August 2 Republican primary.”

Billy Long has a proven record of strongly supporting the individual right to Keep and Bear Arms. He voted for the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act, a bill that would promote America’s hunting heritage and positively impact sportsmen in Missouri and throughout the country. Congressman Long also signed a letter to the Obama administration opposing its recent attempt to ban commonly used ammunition for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15. Additionally, he voted for legislation to prohibit the Obama Administration from executing an abusive practice, known as “Operation Choke Point,” in which Department of Justice intimidates banks into refusing or severing financial services to legally operated ammunition and firearms dealers. Finally, he voted for concealed carry reciprocity legislation that would ensure law-abiding Americans with valid concealed handgun permits would be able to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry.

“We can count on Billy Long to stand up for our constitutional rights to self-protection,” added Cox. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Billy for his steadfast support of our Second Amendment rights and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Missouri to vote Billy Long for Congress in the Republican primary on August 2.”
